CVD diamond-coated carbide tools offer the longest tool life, typically 10–20× that of uncoated carbide. PCD-tipped tools are also excellent but limited to simple geometries. The diamond coating provides abrasion resistance against the hard graphite particles.

Can I use standard carbide end mills for graphite?
