A well-maintained 100 mm sine bar with Grade 0 gauge blocks can achieve angular accuracy within ±10 arc-seconds (±0.0028 deg ). At 100 mm length, a 1 µm error in the gauge block stack produces ~2 arc-seconds of angular error.
Practical limit is about 60 deg . Beyond 45 deg , the stack height approaches the sine bar length and the setup becomes unstable. For steeper angles, use a sine plate or compound sine table. Also, the sine error increases rapidly above 60 deg .
